About Earth Layers

One company, from the material to the wall

We are the exclusive Middle East distributor for the natural finishes we install, and the artisans who install them are on our own payroll. Supply and workmanship sit with one party — which is the whole point.

2020 Founded in Doha, as a seamless flooring contractor
~200 Artisanal applicators, all directly employed on our own sponsorship
67 Finishes in the catalogue, across six material families
3 Countries operating — United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar

A message from our founder

I did not set out to work with clay. I came back from Australia in 2020 and started a seamless flooring company. A year later, renovating my own apartment in Melbourne, I was shown Venetian plaster for the first time — and I have been obsessed with natural finishes ever since.

What convinced me was not how it looked. It was what it does. A clay wall takes moisture out of a room when the air is humid and gives it back when the air dries. A lime surface goes on absorbing carbon dioxide for years after it is finished. These are not decorative claims — they are measurable, and they are why we build the way we do.

The hard part was never the material. It was the workmanship. A natural finish is made on site, by hand, in one pass, and it cannot be corrected afterwards with a coating. That is why we employ our artisans directly rather than subcontracting them, and why we hold the distribution rights for what we install. When a wall fails, there is no gap between the supplier and the applicator for the responsibility to fall into. It sits with us.

We have carried that model from a single flooring contract in Doha to pavilions, museums and resorts across the Gulf. It has not changed, and it will not.

Our story

Six years, three countries, and one idea that kept getting narrower and deeper.

2020 Doha — the beginning Founded as a seamless flooring contractor, on returning from Australia. The idea started with floors.
2021 Melbourne — the turn Introduced to Venetian plaster while renovating an apartment in Melbourne. An alliance followed, and with it the first decorative range in the catalogue. The obsession with natural finishes started here.
2021 – 2022 The Qatar chapter Mega-project delivery ahead of the World Cup — Meryal Waterpark, Katara Hills, Maysan Resort and others. The scale that taught us how to run a finishes package properly.
2023 Into Saudi Arabia The Qatari construction sector slowed after the World Cup. We started again in the Kingdom at small scale, and kept going.
2023 – 2024 The breakthrough pair The Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Calligraphy Museum in Madinah and the King Fahad Cultural Centre in Riyadh — 9,000 m² of microcement — put us on the map in Saudi Arabia.
2023 Gold at Expo 2023 Doha The UAE Pavilion, built in in-situ rammed earth, took the Gold Award for Best Self-Built Pavilion.
August 2025 ALUPCO ALUPCO, the Aluminium Products Company of Dammam, founded in 1975, became majority shareholder in the group's Saudi principal, bringing industrial standing to a craft business.
2025 Earth Layers, Dubai Earth Layers Building Contracting was established in Dubai Industrial City to serve the UAE directly.
2026 The Atelier opens The Conmarble Natural Finishes Atelier opened on Al Urubah Road in Riyadh — the whole catalogue, on real walls, at full size.

What we hold to

Five things we will not trade away, written as we actually apply them.

01 One party, one responsibility

We supply the material and we apply it. No subcontracted crews, no gap between the tin and the trowel. If a surface fails, it is ours to put right.

02 The artisan is an employee

Around 200 applicators, all directly employed on our own sponsorship. A hand-applied finish is only as good as the hand — so we train it, keep it and pay it ourselves.

03 Say what the material cannot do

Clay plaster is not for wet rooms. Microcement is durable and low-VOC, not natural. We publish the limits beside the performance, because specifying a material into the wrong place is the expensive mistake.

04 Prove it with a panel

Natural finishes vary by hand and by batch. Nothing is agreed from a screen: we make a sample, then a mock-up, and the approved panel becomes the standard the work is measured against.

05 Health is the point, not the garnish

Breathability, moisture buffering, zero and ultra-low VOCs, A1 fire performance. We carry the test reports and declarations to prove each one, and we name the issuing body every time.

Wellness, in every surface

The slogan is a specification, not a sentiment. A building's largest surface area is its walls and floors, and what those surfaces are made of decides what the air in the room is made of.

Clay plaster is hygroscopic: it holds relative humidity in the 40 to 60 per cent band where people are comfortable and mould is not. Lime carbonates, absorbing carbon dioxide for years after the trowel leaves the wall. Both are Euroclass A1 — they do not contribute to a fire. Both emit close to nothing: the Clayworks range carries Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort GOLD, French A+, EMICODE EC1 PLUS and Blue Angel, and contributes to LEED, BREEAM, WELL and Mostadam submissions.

Our artisans

Around 200 applicators, across the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar — every one of them a direct employee on our own sponsorship, not a subcontracted crew hired for the week.

This is the single most expensive decision the company makes, and the one that decides everything else. A rammed earth wall is compacted once. A tadelakt surface is burnished in a window measured in minutes. A raked or hand-carved effect is worked into the plaster while it is still green, and it cannot be redone. Nobody learns that from a data sheet. They learn it from years on the trowel, and from working beside people who have.

Our applicators are trained to the manufacturers' own standards and are approved applicators for the systems they install. Where a project calls for a technique nobody in the region has laid before, we develop it on sample panels in Riyadh before it is offered to a client.

How we are structured

One brand across three countries, each with its own contracting entity so the work is delivered locally and billed locally.

United Arab Emirates Earth Layers Building Contracting LLC

The UAE contracting entity, based in Dubai Industrial City. Trade Licence 1575837, Dubai Chamber 655940.

Saudi Arabia Building Layers by Conmarble

The principal operating and contracting entity, in Riyadh, trading as Conmarble Natural Finishes at the Al Urubah Atelier.

Qatar Conmarble Concrete

The origin entity, established in Doha in 2020 and still the Qatari vehicle.

Conmarble Natural Finishes is the brand all three trade under. Since August 2025 the group's Saudi principal has been majority-owned by ALUPCO, the Dammam aluminium manufacturer founded in 1975 — industrial standing behind a specialist finishes business.
