One party for material and workmanship

We are the exclusive Middle East distributor for the materials we install, and the artisans who install them are on our own payroll. That matters at specification stage for one reason: when a finish fails, there is no gap between the supplier and the applicator for the responsibility to fall into.

Every figure on these pages is reproduced from the manufacturer's own technical data sheet with the test standard beside it. Where a document is out of date, restricted, or specific to another client's project, it is either flagged or it is not here.

How to specify

Four steps, in the order they actually happen on a project.

01 Select the system

Start from the family page. It carries the build-up, the substrate rules and the limits — most specification errors are caught here, before a product is named.

02 Check the data

Product pages carry the declared figures against their test standards, and the manufacturer's data sheet is one click away for the consultant who wants the source.

03 Sample and mock-up

Samples for colour, a mock-up for texture and light. Natural finishes vary by hand and by batch; the approved panel becomes the standard the work is measured against.

04 Issue the clause

Copy the clause from the page, fill in the bracketed choices, or send us the finishes schedule and we will return it completed with the sample programme against it.

Rammed earth In-situ rammed earth is a structural or non-structural wall built in lifts and compacted in place. Rammed earth finishes are a plaster system that reproduces the strata of a rammed wall at 7 to 10 mm on a conventional substrate. The two are specified differently and are not interchangeable. 1 data sheets Clay plaster An unfired clay plaster, pigmented through the body, applied by hand over a primed substrate. It is a finish, not a waterproofing layer: it breathes, buffers humidity and is repaired rather than replaced. Interior walls and ceilings only. 8 data sheets Lime plaster A one-component hydraulic lime plaster with marble dust, laid by trowel at 1 to 4 mm over a prepared base. It carries the hardness and the standards record of a mineral coating while reading as a hand-worked surface — tadelakt, marmarino or polished plaster, depending on how it is finished. 3 data sheets Microcement A seamless mineral coating at 2 to 3 mm over a prepared substrate, sealed to a defined system. Microcement is durable and low-VOC. It is a cementitious product: specify it for wear, chemical exposure and continuity, not as a natural or breathable finish. 4 data sheets Resin-bound surfacing A cold-applied polyurethane resin binding graded aggregate into a permeable, seamless surface course. Specified for driveways, footpaths, promenades, pedestrian areas, lightly trafficked car parks and low speed access roads. The permeability figures below are the ones a drainage engineer needs. 12 data sheets Primers and sealers The primer and the sealer are part of the system, not an accessory to it. Most finish failures we are called to inspect trace back to the wrong primer, or a sealer applied before the substrate was dry enough. Both carry their own data sheets and both belong in the specification. 3 data sheets Decorative finishes Italian decorative interior finishes, applied by brush, roller, sponge or trowel over a primed and cohesive substrate. These are decorative coatings rather than mineral plasters: specify them for effect and interior wall surfaces, and prime the substrate properly first. 9 data sheets
