Where we work

Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Al Ain

We are registered in Dubai, our rammed earth stands in Sharjah, and we supply and install natural finishes across the Emirates. Here is what each emirate asks of a finishes schedule, and what we have actually built.

4 Emirates served directly — Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Al Ain
~200 Artisanal applicators, all directly employed on our own sponsorship
3 Countries operating — United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar
1 Party for supply and installation, so responsibility never splits

The four emirates

Each one asks something different of a finishes schedule. These are the differences that actually change what we send you.

Emirate of Dubai

Dubai

Our base

Earth Layers Building Contracting operates from Office F27, Saih Shuaib 2, in Dubai Industrial City, and the unfired Clayworks range is held here for the region. Dubai also sets the tightest compliance path of the four: under Al Sa'fat, Dubai Municipality's green building system, Silver Sa'fa is mandatory on every building in the emirate, which puts emissions and material origin on the schedule from concept stage. Our built work here includes Villa 515 in Jumeirah and the Canvas Events Pavilion.

Abu Dhabi

Everything is rated

Every new building in the emirate carries a rating. Abu Dhabi's Estidama programme and its Pearl Rating System have required at least 1 Pearl on all new buildings since 2010, and at least 2 Pearl on government-funded ones, so a wall finish arrives with paperwork attached rather than a sample board alone. We have supplied and installed in the emirate — that work is not published by name — and we state the status of every certificate we hold — including the Clayworks Environmental Product Declaration that expired in November 2025 and is being renewed.

Emirate of Sharjah

Sharjah

Where our earth walls stand

Sharjah holds land on both the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, and our walls are on the eastern shore. At Kalba Beach we built in-situ stabilised rammed earth for Shurooq, the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority — a public-realm beachfront site metres from the sea, with the roof slab craned onto the completed walls once they carried their own load. It is our built rammed earth reference in the Emirates.

Emirate of Abu Dhabi

Al Ain

The country's earth-building heartland

The Cultural Sites of Al Ain — Hafit, Hili, Bidaa Bint Saud and the Oases Areas — were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2011, the first World Heritage property in the country, and the oases preserve historic mudbrick structures still watered by aflaj. Al Ain sits within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, so its projects fall under the same Pearl regime. We have not built in Al Ain yet. If a project comes, we would start where we always start: a mix trial and a mock-up on your site.

What does not change

The rating system changes at the emirate border. The way the work is delivered does not.

One party supplies the material and applies it, so there is no gap between the tin and the trowel for responsibility to fall into The artisans on site are direct employees on our own sponsorship, not a crew hired for the week Nothing is agreed from a screen — a sample first, then a mock-up, and the approved panel becomes the standard the work is measured against Every certificate is named with its issuing body and its expiry, and an expired document is described as expired A material's limits are published beside its performance: clay plaster is for interior walls and ceilings, rammed earth is a wall system only, and neither goes into a wet area

Beyond the Emirates

Earth Layers is the UAE entity of the group. Sister companies deliver the same catalogue and the same crews in Saudi Arabia and in Qatar, where the company began in 2020. Our crews built the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2023 Doha in in-situ rammed earth, and the guest buildings, mosque, minaret and boundary walls at Al Kaaban Resort.

Tell us where the project is

Send the finishes schedule with the emirate on it. We will come back with the specification clauses, the samples, the documents that belong with them and an honest answer on what belongs where.
