The project

Desert Rock sits inside a granite massif, and the brief for the surfaces was to disappear into it. Demi-Rustic clay plaster at 4–5 mm carries a medium open grain with visible fine aggregate and soft directional trowel movement — close enough to weathered stone to belong, without imitating it.

The colour was developed as a custom brown rather than taken from the standard range, with Rustic NUD-02 used where a coarser, more tactile grain was wanted. Both are through-body: the colour runs through the material, so the surface ages rather than wears.

The resort was named Hotel of the Year at the AHEAD awards in 2025.
