Lime plaster — technical data

Cemher Microtadelakt Thick Base

Lime-based plaster for high build

Manufacturer Cemher
Country of origin Spain
System family Lime plaster
Supplied and applied by Earth Layers by Conmarble

The product

The high-build member of the Microtadelakt system: a lime-based mortar with graded aggregates for 5 to 15 mm builds, used to bring an out-of-true substrate into tolerance before the finish coats go on, and for exterior work.

Where it is used

High-build levelling under Microtadelakt finish coats Highly decorative continuous coatings for exterior walls and ceilings Over underfloor heating and fireplaces Over old ceramic tile coverings

Substrates

Concrete and cementitious mortars Ceramic MDF Plaster and plasterboard Major unevenness corrected mechanically before application

Application data

Coverage, thickness, mix and cure, as declared by the manufacturer. Site conditions in the Gulf sit at the top of most of these ranges — allow for it in the programme.

Type One-component lime-based plaster with graded aggregates
Applied thickness 5 – 15 mm; 10 – 20 mm per pass
Consumption 1.7 – 2.0 kg per mm per m²; a 10 mm build is 17 – 20 kg/m²
Reinforcement Alkali-resistant fibreglass mesh with 100 mm laps at joints and openings, embedded in the fresh first coat
Cure per coat Typically 12 – 24 hours per 10 – 20 mm, climate dependent
Tools Stainless steel or aluminium trowel over a primed substrate
Minimum application temperature + 10 °C

Performance data

Every figure below is reproduced from the manufacturer's own technical data sheet, with the test standard it was measured against. The sheet itself is in the download section.

Abrasion resistance (BCA) Class AR 0.5, max 50 µm UNI EN 13892-4:2003

Where not to use it

The limits are as much a part of the specification as the performance. Everything here is stated on the manufacturer's data sheet.

Embed continuous alkali-resistant fibreglass mesh in the first coat for any build over 10 mm and on dissimilar substrates Do not apply below 10 °C Longer cure in cold or humid conditions Performance figures marked 1* are measured without sealer
Specification clause

Levelling coat: Cemher Microtadelakt Thick Base lime-based plaster applied 5–15 mm over Primer 100 on the prepared substrate, at 1.7–2.0 kg per mm per m². Alkali-resistant fibreglass mesh embedded continuously in the first coat with 100 mm laps at joints and openings for any build over 10 mm. Reaction to fire Class A1 to UNE EN 13501-1:2019. Fully cured before finish coats.

Square brackets mark the choices that belong to the project. Send us the finishes schedule and we will return the clause completed, with the sample and mock-up programme against it.
