The product

Styjl's current system, built and finished much like a drywall ceiling but absorbing sound across the whole surface. Smooth, non-directional and monolithic, with no grid and no visible joint. Designed to be demounted and re-used rather than demolished.

Coverage, thickness, mix and cure, as declared by the manufacturer. Site conditions in the Gulf sit at the top of most of these ranges — allow for it in the programme.

Where not to use it

The limits are as much a part of the specification as the performance. Everything here is stated on the manufacturer's data sheet.

An interior ceiling and wall system. Absorption depends on the mounting type and on whether the high-NRC backer board is used — the figures below are not interchangeable. Fire classification depends on the build-up: B s1d0 or A2 s1d0 to EN 13823. Colorant has a one year shelf life; the boards, plasters and scrim have three.
Specification clause

Seamless acoustic ceiling: Styjl Straight Up 20 mm (25/32") seamless acoustical ceiling and wall system on a drywall suspension grid at 300 mm centres, comprising the acoustical board, Straight Up 1 and Straight Up 2 plasters, scrim and acoustical coating in colour [ref], finished [Standard / Standard+ / Special] to the approved sample panel. Sound absorption NRC [0.75 type A / 0.85 type E200 / 0.80 type E400] to ASTM C423. Reaction to fire [B s1d0 / A2 s1d0] to EN 13823. Supply and application by Earth Layers as exclusive Middle East dealer for Styjl.
